13 inch i5 MacBook Pro for $100. Yeah, it’s older, but newer than my 2008 MBP, and smaller as well. I will need to upgrade the memory and toss in an SSD but I have those things laying around.

It would almost seem too good to be true, but this is a guy I’ve bought from before. He tends to be extremely fair in his pricing, and I take full advantage of it. A few years ago I bought a Lenovo USB3 dock for $15, and just yesterday I picked up an iPod nano 6G for $10.
He and his wife are cleaning out the house during COVID-19 and purging extra crap they have sitting around, and I’m happy to fill my house with his cast-offs. He lives in a good neighborhood and has a bunch of hybrids in the driveway, parked right next to a Z3 M roadster. I can’t remember which motor it has, but whatever - it’s an M roadster...

Seems like a deal. Does that have a high DPI display, or is it too early for that?

Too early for a retina display. Since it’s the small 13.3" model it only has a 1280x800 screen, but I’ll probably use it as a desktop hooked up through a KVM so I’ll be able to run it higher than that.
No USB3 but it does have Thunderbolt. The graphics are just the on-chip variety; no discrete graphics on the little one. It is one of the last ones to have RAM and HD as user replaceable items, as well as an optical drive; those things disappeared when the retina (3rd generation) MBPs came out.

Good buy! I still kinda regretting upgrading from a 2009 MBP to a 2014. For awhile I missed having an optical DVD drive, but I honestly never use it. H aving an actual HDMI port and high speed USB 2.0 is great, a nd the retina display is fantastic, even if I have to deal with the crappy anti-glare film not liking my oily fingerprints on the keyboard.
Every design change they’ve made since has been a step backwards IMO, ditching the mag-safe power connector, moving to entirely USB C, not to mention the whole keyboard fiasco.
I think Apple is going to have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I hung onto my $5 2008 model, but it was getting a little long in the tooth. That one was a battered PoS I found at the Goodwill Outlet and revived and it served me well. But a deal like this was too good to pass up even if it’s a step back in a few minor ways. I can see it lasting me for years.
I’ll probably pick up another notebook in a week or two. I have a recycling place that’s going through a pile of Dell Precision workstations. For $150 I should be able to get something with a 17" screen, 16GB and an i7 (but no HD or SSD). I’ll use that when I need power, but use the Mac for day-to-day stuff. Those Dells are also heavy beasts, one more reason to have a lightweight notebook around.

Nice!!!
M y rig is a base 13” 2010 MBP I bought new back in the day. Late last year it got a refresh doubled storage with a board clean and heatsink re- paste, 500GB SSD, 8 GB ram, fresh OS and new charger. I figure the silly thing’ s good for another 5 years at least.
It’s not too happy with the higher res videos though.
